Ioniq 5 N as an example

For decades, European car manufacturers were the prime example for various Asian competitors. Nowadays, the roles are increasingly reversed. For example, Porsche has now drawn inspiration from Hyundai.
Remember when South Koreans were trying to develop more European-looking cars to conquer our market? That’s no longer necessary. Hyundai and Kia now see their cars selling like hotcakes here, even if they are quirky and look remarkable. The roles have even been reversed, as Porsche, usually a leader in the sports field, is now learning from Hyundai. The German brand admits this through Frank Moser, in conversation with the Australian Drive .
Moser, who is responsible for the development of the brand new Porsche 718 at Porsche, has turned the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N inside out for learning purposes. “We learned a lot from that. I’ve driven it several times. They really made it very, very good,” said Moser. “It was an eye opener.” Beautiful words for the South Koreans, but what did Moser specifically find so good? Well, among other things, the way the Ioniq 5 N as an EV still gives the feeling that you are on the road with a sporty fuel car. The German already hints that the brand new electric Porsche 718 will probably also have virtual engine sound and artificial shifting. If you feel like it, because Porsche wants it to be possible without it (just like with the Ioniq 5 N).
