Between Zoetermeer and Nootdorp

Speeders, take note. A new average speed camera system has been immediately implemented in the Netherlands. This is the third average speed camera system on the A12.
Anyone who regularly drives too fast must be wary of speed cameras, mobile checks, police cars, and average speed camera systems. The Dutch road network now has a new average speed camera system: on the A12 between Zoetermeer and Nootdorp. It has been put into immediate operation.
According to the Public Prosecution Service, the average speed camera system was installed because an average of 76 accidents per year have been registered between the Zoetermeer and Nootdorp exit over the past five years. Motorists on the A2 from Zoetermeer towards Nootdorp – and thus not the other way around – are registered between hectometer pole 11.3 and 8.9. If the average speed over that distance was too high, a fine will follow. Are you ‘safe’ as a speeder going the other way? Not for long. The Public Prosecution Service expects to activate the average speed camera system from Nootdorp towards Zoetermeer later this year.
To illustrate how much speeding occurs on the A12 section: according to the Public Prosecution Service, during the test phase of the average speed camera system, over 100,000 cars passed by each day, thousands of which were speeding. Note: this was only tracked in one direction of travel.
In the Netherlands, there are a total of 63 average speed camera systems distributed across 31 locations.
