An even more special variant of the Toyota GR Yaris is coming, which you can only buy if you win a lottery. And we don’t even mean that with an eye on its undoubtedly high price.
For a Yaris, the Toyota GR Yaris, delightfully insane in the best sense of the word, is naturally outrageously expensive. For the GR Yaris, which is special in many respects, you pay at least €91,995 in the Netherlands. What you get for that money: a three-door Yaris with a wildly flared bodywork and a unique interior, a 280 hp 1.6 three-cylinder with turbo, and a tax authority that will be eternally grateful for the approximately €40,000 in BPM (private vehicle and motorcycle tax) you pay. 90 grand for a Yaris is, of course, bizarre, so we can well imagine that you would only consider buying one if you had won the lottery. For the GR Yaris that plays the main role in this article, you actually have to win a lottery.
This is the Toyota GR Yaris Sébastien Ogier 9x World Champion Edition. It is a special version of the GR Yaris that is as limited as its name is long. That name already gives a lot away. With this car, Toyota celebrates that French driver Sébastien Ogier – who drives for the Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team – has won his ninth WRC world title. The celebratory edition is based on the GR Yaris Aero Performance and features, among other things, a special SEB driving mode developed together with Ogier. This replaces the Track mode and distributes power in a 40:60 ratio between the front and rear axles. The Gravel mode in this variant has been replaced by the Morizo mode, in which the all-wheel drive is tuned in a way that Toyota’s Akio Toyoda prefers.
The exterior color Black Gravite is unique to this special edition, as is the combination of matte black wheels with blue brake calipers behind them. A French flag can be found in the grille, a reference to Ogier’s home country.
100 units of the Toyota GR Yaris Sébastien Ogier 9x World Champion Edition will be available in Japan. 100 units will also come to Europe. To purchase, you must register, and you can only buy one if you win a specially designed lottery. We are awaiting a response from the Dutch importer as to whether this special GR Yaris will also be supplied in the Netherlands.
