This Italian supercar is something different than just another new Porsche or Ferrari

Expensive but unique

Betone Runabout

Are you tired of Porsche and can’t tell all those new Ferrari models apart anymore? Then this Bertone Runabout might just be the redemptive answer to your demand for a truly unique supercar.

Porsche launches a new variant of the 911 at every turn, and the speed at which Ferrari pumps new or refreshed models into the world is unparalleled. Do you want something that is much more unique than a Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, or Aston Martin? Then contact the gentlemen and ladies of Bertone. Bertone is bringing a study model it developed in the late sixties to life. This is the Bertone Runabout.

The Bertone Runabout is, in a sense, the production version of the eponymous 1969 concept car. Just like in that particularly sleekly designed Runabout for its time, you also notice similarities with the Fiat X1/9 and Lancia Stratos in the new Runabout inspired by it. It was already clear last year, by the way, that the Runabout would get an offspring some 57 years after its show debut. Now that angular descendant is really here.

Bertone will make 25 units of the Runabout. Each one has a 3.5-liter V6 behind the front seats. Thanks to a supercharger, this six-cylinder delivers 475 hp and 490 Nm, making it strong enough to help the Runabout reach a speed of 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. Its top speed: 270 km/h. Shifting is done via a manual gearbox with short gear ratios. The 3.99-meter short and only 1.11-meter high Italian weighs just 1,057 kilos and is certainly not cheap. The Italians are asking €390,000 for it. Note: this is exclusive of things like VAT and BPM.
