Opel Rocks Electric

Opel has updated its smallest electric vehicle. We are, of course, talking about the Opel Rocks Electric. We now have the prices for this extremely subtly refined electric city vehicle.

The Opel Rocks Electric, known as Rocks-e in its early years, is an extremely compact electric vehicle that is not even officially a car. The top speed of the vehicle is only 45 km/h, and you can drive it from the age of sixteen – with a moped license. The German sister model of the Citroën Ami and Fiat Topolino was updated earlier this year in an extremely efficient manner. The panel around the headlights is now black, giving the Opel Rocks Electric more visual connection with the rest of the Opel models with the ‘Opel Vizor’ front.

The other changes that Opel is making are at least as small. For example, the basic color of the body is now light gray and the roof is black. The Opel logo is white on both the front and rear.

The Opel Rocks Electric is available in the Netherlands in two flavors. For €8,699 you get into the basic version called Edition. Above that is the Rocks GS for which you pay €9,499. The entry-level version is of course very basic and offers an adjustable driver’s seat, yellow pull loops to close the doors, outward-folding side windows, heating and ventilation and an adjustable interior mirror. There is no infotainment, nor are there any wheel covers. For such vulgar luxury you have to be with the GS version. In addition to 14-inch wheel covers and the ConnectBox to use your phone as an infotainment system, it also offers storage compartments in the dashboard and a bag hook on the passenger side. The GS version even treats you to floor mats, storage nets in the door and a phone holder with USB-A connection for your phone. That phone holder is a separate option for the entry-level version for – don’t be alarmed – €18.

Regardless of the chosen version, the Opel Rocks Electric has an 8 hp electric motor. If you plug the 5.4 kWh battery, which is empty after 75 kilometers, into the socket at home, you will have an 80 percent charged copy after 4 hours and 20 minutes. Anyone who wants to be able to hang the Rocks Electric on a charging station must purchase an adapter for that, which costs €313.60.
