Another Phantom V
Lunaz has once again seized a special classic and turned it into an EV. This time it’s the Rolls-Royce Phantom V, to celebrate the Phantom’s centenary.
Few cars embody conservative driving as well as the Rolls-Royce Phantom. Whichever generation you pick, a Phantom is always huge, heavy, and equipped with a thick engine. Not exactly progressive, but according to Lunaz, it has been a good basis for making an EV before. In fact, Lunaz is now tackling a Phantom V for an EV conversion for the second time.
The previous time was five years ago, but the recipe is almost unchanged. A Rolls-Royce collector commissioned Lunaz to modernize the car in various aspects, with the electric powertrain naturally being the biggest change. Lunaz often doesn’t go into detail about the technology, but in this case, there is a presumably 375 hp electric motor. It is reported that this Phantom has an 80-kWh battery, while the one from five years ago had a 120 kWh unit. Fast charging should be possible.
Other things that were not originally included: a built-in navigation system, wifi connectivity, USB connections, heated front and rear seats, and an infotainment screen for the rear passengers. Incidentally, it is a seven-seater Phantom, so you can cruise around in style and in silence with a whole group. The whiskey bar is sure to be a welcome addition for some.
