Revolutie in Land Cruiser-land. De Toyota Land Cruiser is er nu voor het eerst met een mild-hybride aandrijflijn!
De huidige generatie Toyota Land Cruiser Prado die in augustus 2023 als simpelweg ‘Land Cruiser’ op de Europese en dus ook Nederlandse markt kwam, is bepaald geen koopje. Voor bedrijfswagenversie Land Cruiser Van ben je – exclusief btw – €85.662 kwijt. Voor de personenautovariant bijna het dubbele. Die wisselt vanaf een heftige €177.850 van eigenaar. De prijzen lopen op tot wel €191.495. Al bij de introductie van de Land Cruiser maakte Toyota melding van de komst van een mild-hybride. Een kleine twee jaar later is die er eindelijk. Dit is de Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid 48v.
Net als de Land Cruiser zonder mild-hybride hardware, heeft de Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid 48V een 2,8-liter viercilinder dieselmotor. Verder heeft de mild-hybride Land Cruiser de achttraps Direct Shift-automaat die je in de variant zonder elektrische ondersteuning aantreft. Aan het geheel wordt natuurlijk wél een elektromotor-generator, een 48V lithium-ion batterij en een omvormer toegevoegd. Volgens Toyota is de Land Cruiser Hybrid 48V soepeler en stiller dan de variant zonder elektrohulp. Daarnaast werkt het start-stopsysteem sneller en moet de auto sneller accelereren. De mild-hybride extraatjes zijn in staat om tot 16 pk en 65 Nm te leveren. Die komen dus bij de 205 diesel-pk’s die de verbrandingsmotor levert. Komt deze opzet je bekend voor? Dat kan goed kloppen, want de Toyota Hilux heeft dezelfde mild-hybride aandrijflijn.
Bij de Hilux wordt de mild-hybride aandrijflijn aangeboden naast de reguliere 2.8 zonder elektrohulp. We verwachten dat dit bij de Land Cruiser niet anders zal zijn. Bij de Toyota Hilux is de mild-hybride variant bij gelijke uitvoering overigens niet goedkoper, maar enkele duizenden euro’s duurder dan de reguliere dieselvariant. Nederlandse prijzen van de Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid 48V hebben we nog niet.

Revolution in Land Cruiser land. The Toyota Land Cruiser is now available for the first time with a mild-hybrid powertrain!
The current generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, which came onto the European and thus also the Dutch market in August 2023 as simply ‘Land Cruiser’, is certainly not a bargain. For the commercial vehicle version Land Cruiser Van you will pay – excluding VAT – €85,662. Almost double for the passenger car version. It changes hands from a hefty €177,850. Prices go up to €191,495. Toyota already mentioned the arrival of a mild hybrid at the introduction of the Land Cruiser. Almost two years later it is finally here. This is the Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid 48v.
Like the Land Cruiser without mild-hybrid hardware, the Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid 48V has a 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine. Furthermore, the mild-hybrid Land Cruiser has the eight-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission that you find in the variant without electrical support. An electric motor-generator, a 48V lithium-ion battery and an inverter are of course added to the whole. According to Toyota, the Land Cruiser Hybrid 48V is smoother and quieter than the variant without electric assistance. In addition, the start-stop system works faster and the car should accelerate faster. The mild-hybrid extras are able to deliver up to 16 hp and 65 Nm. These are added to the 205 diesel hp that the combustion engine delivers. Does this setup sound familiar? That may well be the case, because the Toyota Hilux has the same mild-hybrid powertrain.
With the Hilux, the mild-hybrid powertrain is offered in addition to the regular 2.8 without electric assistance. We expect this to be no different with the Land Cruiser. With the Toyota Hilux, the mild-hybrid version is not cheaper with the same version, but several thousand euros more expensive than the regular diesel version. We do not yet have Dutch prices for the Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid 48V.
