BYD Atto 2 DM-i

The BYD Atto 2 is the smallest electric crossover that BYD offers in Europe and also in the Netherlands. Soon it will also be the smallest plug-in hybrid on the menu here. The BYD Atto 2 will also receive a plug-in hybrid powertrain. This is the BYD Atto 2 DM-i.

The BYD Atto 2 is not the smallest model from BYD that you can buy in the Netherlands. That is the just under four-meter-long BYD Dolphin Surf. However, the Atto 2 is the smallest crossover from BYD that you can buy in Europe. The BYD Atto 2 is 4.31 meters long and is a competitor for cars like the Volvo EX30 and the Peugeot e-2008. Soon the Atto 2 will also target different types of crossovers than just electric ones. Meet the BYD Atto 2 DM-i, a plug-in hybrid.

Those familiar with the DM-i designation know that it stands for ‘Dual Mode-intelligent’ and that the three-letter combination indicates the presence of a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The BYD Seal U is available with an electric powertrain as well as a plug-in hybrid Seal U DM-i, and the Seal 6 and Seal 6 Touring are only available as DM-i. The BYD Atto 2 will also be available from the first quarter of next year.

BYD has not yet released detailed technical specifications. However, we do know that the BYD Atto 2 DM-i can travel up to 90 kilometers on electric power alone and that the total range is more than 1,000 kilometers. The electric range, however, depends on the chosen variant. The BYD Atto 2 DM-i will come to market with two different battery pack sizes and in two power variants. More information will follow in November.
