BYD Racco: tiny electric micro-MPV

BYD Racco

Chinese BYD is also bringing a small but practical electric car to the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo. This is the electric BYD Racco!

Meet the BYD Racco. This is the first BYD developed purely for export markets and will not be launched in its home country, China. The car’s debut in Japan explains its appearance. The Racco is narrow, tall, and designed to be particularly spacious with its distinctive proportions. It is a true kei car for the Japanese market.

The BYD Racco is just under 3.4 meters long, just under 1.48 meters wide, and as much as 1.80 meters tall. With these dimensions, the Racco meets the maximum size requirements for the kei segment in Japan. This means it will be subject to lower taxes. It also means it can have a maximum power of 64 hp. The BYD Racco will be available with two sizes of LFP batteries, but no further information has been shared yet. We do know that the front-wheel-drive Racco will be launched in Japan in the summer of 2026. BYD has not yet commented on a potential launch in Europe.
