V8 in a stylish guise
There is certainly no shortage of exclusive hypercars from small manufacturers these days. Here’s another one: the Capricorn 01 Zagato.
Do you no longer see the forest for the trees when it comes to hypercars from small manufacturers? Then you are not alone. Even we sometimes lose the overview. Now there is another one, but it is certainly one worth thinking about. We are introduced to the Capricorn 01 Zagato. The last part of the name already indicates that this is not just a killer designed by a random designer and that is clearly visible. Although we detect influences from Bugatti, for example, it is still quite a unique and special appearance. The inside looks quite retro and that already gives away the technical approach of the Capricorn 01 Zagato.
The Capricorn 01 Zagato is the first and so far only model from the German car parts manufacturer Capricorn. They recently announced the arrival of this crack nose and we turned out to be right about the drive. It is indeed quite a classic story, with a 5.2-liter supercharged V8, linked to a five-speed manual gearbox from the Italian Cima. The power is anything but classic: over 900 hp. That all goes to the rear wheels via that five-speed gearbox. Then you can imagine that this results in brutal violence.
Thanks in part to a full carbon fiber LMP1-style monocoque and subframes, the dry weight has been limited to less than 1,200 kilos, resulting in a sprint time of ‘less than 3 seconds’ from 0-100 km/h. The top speed is 360 km/h. Double wishbones, Bilstein shock absorbers and carbon ceramic brakes, among other things, should also make the 01 Zagato lightning fast in the corners. No existing car appears to have served as the basis for the Capricorn 01 Zagato, but the V8 comes from Ford and has been thoroughly modified by Capricorn itself.
Are you becoming very greedy, are you a millionaire and do you dare to buy a tear-jerkingly expensive car from a manufacturer that has yet to make its mark in this field? Okay, then you can conjure up €2.95 million. Perhaps you will become one of the 19 lucky Capricorn 01 Zagato owners.

Now there’s another one, but it’s definitely one to dwell on. We are introduced to the Capricorn 01 Zagato. The last part of the name already indicates that this is not just a thug designed by a random designer, and you can tell. They recently announced the arrival of this tear-off nose and we turned out to be right about the drive. It is indeed quite a classic story, with a 5.2-liter V8 with supercharger, coupled to a hand-shifted five-speed from the Italian Cima. The power is anything but classic: over 900 hp. That all goes through that five-speed to the rear wheels. Then you can imagine that that delivers brute force.
