Lotus Cars is closing its European headquarters, which had been located in Amsterdam since 2022, reports RTL Z. The automaker, which is in Chinese hands, says it wants to save costs with this move. “Because Lotus will operate as a wholesaler, the Amsterdam headquarters is no longer necessary to sell cars in European markets.” As a result of the closure of the Amsterdam office, 41 jobs will be lost, according to the company to RTL Z.

Lotus Cars is originally a British manufacturer of luxury sports cars, which has been mostly owned by the Chinese technology company Geely since 2017. A portion of the shares in the sports car manufacturer has been traded on the American technology exchange Nasdaq since early 2024.
