Renault Kwid E-Tech Electric

Renault technology is seeing into Dacia and vice versa, various Dacia models are trickling over to Renault. This is the new Renault Kwid E-Tech Electric. Indeed: a Dacia Spring!

The Dacia Spring is available internationally in various flavors and even under different brands. The cheapest new car in the Netherlands is technically related to the Renault Kwid, a hatchback that is sold elsewhere in the world mainly with gasoline engines. Including in Brazil. However, the small Kwid is also sold there with an electric powertrain as the Kwid E-Tech Electric. Until now, that Kwid E-Tech Electric still had to make do with the old design. Now the Renault Kwid E-Tech Electric is following the example of the Dacia Spring, which was thoroughly updated for the European market in 2024.

You have to look closely to distinguish the updated Kwid E-Tech Electric from the Dacia Spring. The plastic section between the light units containing the LED daytime running lights has a series of vertical instead of horizontal design elements. Additionally, you’ll of course find a Renault diamond logo there. We see something similar at the rear. Between the taillights, we find a black panel with vertical decorative ornaments instead of diagonal lines. On the Dacia Spring, you’ll find the written-out brand name, while on the Renault there’s only the Renault logo. Its model name is directly below it, whereas on the Dacia Spring you’ll find it at the bottom left of the tailgate. Things like the light signature all remain untouched.

Furthermore, the Renault Kwid E-Tech Electric benefits from the changes that the Dacia Spring already underwent in Europe in 2024. This means among other things that there’s a completely new interior, but also that new safety systems are coming. In Brazil, the Kwid E-Tech Electric always has the 65 hp electric motor and a 26.8 kWh battery. Meanwhile, that powertrain has been replaced for the European market by a 100 hp variant with a new LFP battery. The 45 hp version – which has now been replaced by a 70 hp power source – is not available in Brazil.
