This is the Volkswagen ID Unyx 07, the first electric Volkswagen on a brand new EV platform!
Like many other manufacturers, Volkswagen is a master at spreading technology across as many brands as possible. Sometimes even complete models are sold under multiple brand names. For example, think of the Volkswagen Up that got a place at Skoda as the Citigo and was sold by Seat as the Mii. A more recent example is the Volkswagen ID Unyx 06, an electric SUV that is little more than a Cupra Tavascan with a mild Volkswagen design sauce poured over it. That Volkswagen ID Unyx 06 now gets a little brother: the Volkswagen ID Unyx 07.
Quickly back to the Volkswagen ID Unyx 06. That was the first Volkswagen of the Unyx line, a label created by Volkswagen in China. That the ID Unyx 06 is a slightly adapted Cupra Tavascan for Volkswagen is no surprise. The ID Unyx 06 is produced by Volkswagen Anhui, a collaboration between Volkswagen and JAC Motors that is also responsible for the international production of the Tavascan. The second model of the ID Unyx label seems to have very little to do with the ID Unyx 06. Extensive technical data is not yet available, but we can still give you some specifications.
From the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, AutoWeek reports the first technical data of the ID Unyx 07. For example, we know that the car is 4.85 meters long, 1.85 meters wide and 1.57 meters high. This makes the Volkswagen ID Unyx 07 a good twenty centimeters longer than the Unyx 06. The wheelbase of the newcomer is 2.83 meters, about 6 centimeters longer than that of the Unyx 06. The minimum 2,057 kilograms Volkswagen has a 232 hp electric motor and an unspecified LFP battery from CATL. According to Chinese media, the Unyx 06 sits on a new Chinese EV platform, although it is not yet clear exactly which base it is.
