Will postponement be canceled?
Even before the first electric Ferrari is here, the second electric Ferrari appears to have been significantly delayed. The reason: no one would be waiting for an electric sports car.
Porsche has adjusted its EV goals downwards, the first electric Lamborghini has been postponed to 2029, the electric version of the Maserati MC20 has been canceled, and even before the first electric Ferrari is here, Ferrari’s second EV also seems to be coming later. That’s what the normally well-informed Automotive News writes, based on two anonymous sources.
Ferrari will release the first bits of information about its first electric car in October. The first electric Ferrari is reportedly going to be a real taste-maker, a car that will be built in small numbers. The first copies are expected in the second half of next year. The second electric Ferrari should be a real game changer, possibly a relatively low, stretched crossover-like vehicle. The arrival of that second Ferrari has been postponed according to one of the sources spoken to by Automotive News. Initially, it was supposed to come on the market at the end of 2026, but reportedly you shouldn’t expect it ‘before 2028’. The reason: Ferrari currently estimates that there is simply no (structural) demand for electric sports cars.
