Fewer packages, more individual options at Mini

Against the current

Loose options are increasingly rare, everything is nowadays with packages. Mini happily participates in that, but now takes a step back by working with different models with separate options.

Mini was once pre -eminently the brand where you had to be for individual options. For a long time for paying extra, the earnings model of the British under BMW board was pretty much, but this brand has now also seen the light. With the arrival of the newest generation models, some of which comes from China and some uniformity was also desirable for logistical reasons, the brand works with a fixed ‘pre -programmed’ packages. They have the names XS up to and including XL, where XS only provides some semi-necessary and XL makes your mini ‘fully loaded’ in one fell swoop. Clearly and easy, but also limited. After all, some options are quite sensitive to taste and because even things like a towbar are housed in a package, people who want to be able to pull a cart with a countryman must go for an ‘M+’ or ‘XL’.

From panoramic branch to towbar

Apparently not everyone was talking about that course of events. MINI has therefore decided to reduce the packages a little and to expand the amount of loose options. This only applies to the non-Chinese models, so the electric Cooper and the Aceman are not yet participating. For the Coopers on gasoline and the Countryman, however, the packages have been stripped a lot. We take the countryman as an example. The wireless telephone charger, ‘Comfort Access’, Driving Assistant Plus, electrically adjustable massage seats, the panoramic roof and the towbar can now be ordered separately, and you can therefore also add to a basic version when asked. For the complete overview, see the tables with this story (Countryman in the current text, Cooper three -door in the photo gallery).

Above the old, below the new situation for the Countryman.

Black windows

Something extremely taste sensitive as privacy glass can now be ordered separately, so for the first time you can come across a ‘fully loaded’ JCW with XL without black windows.

Fortunately, scrapping a number of package parts also meant that those packages have become a lot cheaper. ‘XL’ on a countryman goes from € 11,000 to € 6,200. The minis themselves recently became cheaper, so count out your win. Even if you order all the options, the price remains with € 8,600 under that of the original package. However, there seems to be a snag, because on the ‘old’ price list we find 26 items in the XL package and on the new 23. Who is looking for the differences?

Mini Extra Options

Individual Options Are Becoming Inbreasingly Rare, Everything Now Comes in Packages. Mini is Happy to Join in, but is now twaking a step back by working with individual options for varous models.
