For just € 230, Skoda still makes a kind of scout of your Octavia

Skoda Octavia

Funny actually: while the popularity of the SUV seems to know no bounds, raised versions of hatchbacks and station wagons have largely disappeared again. Among them the Skoda Octavia Scout, but for only €230 Skoda still makes a Scout of your Octavia. Or well, a bit then.

The Skoda Octavia Scout has existed since the second generation of the Octavia and is a car according to the recipe of the Subaru Outback, Audi Allroad and Volvo XC70. Raised and dolled up, preferably in combination with black wheel arch edges, bottom protection plates and four-wheel drive. There is also a Scout of the current Octavia again, although we have not been able to find the facelifted version of it anywhere and this version has never been on the menu in the Netherlands at all.

Skoda Octavia Scout

The last Skoda Octavia Scout

On the one hand logical, because for those who want ground clearance and SUV properties, Skoda now has enough else in house. On the other hand strange, because the combination of a station wagon body with some extra ground clearance and tough decoration can be quite nice. Unfortunately peanuts, but for an almost negligible amount you can still make an Octavia look somewhat like a Scout. Skoda offers the ‘Bad Road Package’ for this car and for the Superb Combi, for only €230 (€250 for the Superb). For that money you get a real bottom protection plate and an adjusted chassis, with 15 mm extra ground clearance as a result.

Skoda Octavia

We cannot check it, but everything indicates that this Octavia has this package.

Unfortunately, the external adjustments are missing, which means that the clearly visible difference in driving height does not come out as nicely visually as with a real Scout. Yet something like this can of course be useful under certain circumstances, and it is in any case noteworthy that Skoda still offers this unique option. Noted.

Links without, right with ‘Bad Road Package’.

Now it is obvious for us Dutch to joke that the Bad Road Package will be standard in Belgium, but that is of course not the case. At least, we don’t think so. Still? Still have a look at the price list. Strange, the bad road package is not on the Belgian document at all. However, you can order a sports chassis here with a lowering of – also coincidentally! – 15 mm, and we do not find that in the Netherlands. Could it be…?
