Former McLaren CEO may pull Porsche out of the doldrums

New CEO, new opportunities

Michael Leiters CEO Porsche

Oliver Blume will remain CEO of Porsche for a few more months, but will hand over that position on January 1, 2026 to former McLaren executive Michael Leiters.

Things are not going great for Porsche. Sales of electric models are disappointing and the brand is forced to invest heavily in keeping combustion engine models alive longer and even developing completely new models with combustion engines. Top executive Oliver Blume – who leads both Porsche and the Volkswagen Group – will no longer have the heavy task of helping Porsche towards better times as of January 1, 2026. Starting next year, Porsche will have a new CEO: Michael Leiters.
