Is there life between the Kia Niro and Kia Sportage? According to the South Koreans, yes. We will soon welcome the Kia Seltos.
You might recognize the name Kia Seltos. Especially if you want to be the first to know about all the auto news and therefore follow AutoWeek.nl closely. In the summer of 2022, we informed you about a facelift for the Kia Seltos that is sold far away from here. Now we hear about the arrival of a brand new Kia Seltos, which will also be sold here in the Netherlands from the end of next year.
The new Kia Seltos, like the existing one, is a relatively compact crossover. Yet it seems to be getting a bit bigger than the existing model, because where that is mainly high in the B-segment in terms of size, the new Seltos belongs in the C-segment according to Kia. Just above the Niro. It will probably be about 15 cm longer than the current Seltos. Expect around 4.5 meters in length, the Sportage remains just one step above.
Kia presents us with some teaser plates, which clearly show that the Kia Seltos with its Star Map lighting is completely a Kia of this time. Certainly with its idiosyncratic front, it clearly becomes a smaller brother of the Sportage. We are also betting on similar technology, so there will probably soon be a hybrid powertrain with a 1.6 T-GDI as a power source and possibly there is also a plug-in with the same engine in the pipeline. An electric version is unlikely. The Kia Seltos will be unveiled on December 10, so we will know more then.
