MG brings Tesla Model Y-competitor to Europe

More IM Coming?

MG Teaser im LS6

MG will unveil a new electric SUV for Europe during the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which will compete with the Tesla Model Y, among others.

Almost a year and a half ago, we were introduced to IM, a luxury sister brand of MG, at the MG booth in Geneva. It was already clear that IM cars would eventually become available in Europe. It seems that the time is almost here. The teaser photo above undoubtedly shows the car that could be admired in Geneva as the IM LS6 and that is already for sale in Australia as the IM6, for example.

If the Australian market is a harbinger, then the LS6 will soon be offered here by MG as the IM6, with the IM logos on it as well. We do see MG Motors on the back of the IM6, perhaps things will be handled somewhat differently for Europe and MG will simply put its own logo on it. In any case, it is an interesting newcomer in a busy segment. The approximately 4.9-meter-long IM6 will soon encounter cars such as the Tesla Model Y and Ford Mustang Mach-E.

On paper, the IM6 is well prepared. In addition to an LFP battery, there is also a choice of NMC copies that can handle considerable charging capacities; up to just under 400 kW. In terms of range, the IM6 achieves up to 555 km WLTP with a 100 kWh battery, according to Australian data. In terms of power, it starts at 294 hp (RWD) and the strongest version has 787 hp and all-wheel drive at its disposal. In just over two weeks, we hope to know what the story will be here in Europe. It is also interesting that IM already has a car with a solid-state battery in the L6 (a sedan). Who knows, that might be coming here in the long term.
