Stolen from Production
A remarkable story from India: in a Kia factory, some engines were allegedly subtly stolen from production over several years by factory employees.
We can imagine that if you work in a cookie factory, it can be difficult to simply let all those cookies pass you by. If you’re at the production line of combustion engines, it should be a little easier to keep your hands to yourself, you would think. Well, that doesn’t seem to be the case with two employees of a Kia engine factory in India.
According to Reuters, the two are suspected of stealing no less than 1,008 engines in about three years. That’s just over six per week. Apparently, just little enough to stay under the radar for a long time. The engines were allegedly resold to scrap dealers.
Local authorities are investigating the theft, worth around 2 million euros. The engines were allegedly stolen with the help of fake invoices and counterfeit access passes. That is why no alarm bells rang for a long time.
