Tiguan and Terramar after
What the Volkswagen Tiguan and Cupra Terramar can do, the Audi Q3 can also be! At least, from now on. This is the brand new Audi Q3. It is more electric than ever, but just has combustion engines. And that is probably for the last time.
Highlights Audi Q3
The first two generations of Audi Q3 together accounted for more than two million copies sold. It is therefore high time to kiss the second and now seven -year -old Q3 goodbye and to get to know what the third generation of the Audi Q3 is already. In almost no flat surprises, it brings with it, but that does not detract from what the new Audi Q3 has to offer. Why brings the Q3 a lot of familiar? Well. The Audi Q3 is a sister model of the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Cupra Terramar. They are both still very often and introduced almost the same stuff, but then packed differently and with a different name.
Viewed from behind, the Audi Q3 looks a bit like the Audi A6.
Lots of Q5 …
The new Audi Q3 can be recognized directly as such. In the same way as the Tiguan acts as SUV alternative for the Golf, the Audi Q3 is devised for those who find the A3 too small and especially too low. Design -technical similarities with the larger Q5 cannot be denied the new Q3.
The big difference is the placement of the headlights. With the Audi Q5, the headlights and the LED daytime running lights are housed in fairly traditionally shaped light units high in the front. With the new Audi Q3, the headlights and the LED daytime running lights are separated from 23 segments. The LED daytime running lights has an adjustable signature and is high in the front, the actual headlights are a floor lower in the bumper and melt optically together with a second cooling opening that looks like a maniacal grin. The electric A6 e-tron and Q6 e-tron also have split lighting, but with those models the headlights are a lot wider.
Also interesting: with its Digtal Matrix LED headlights, the Q3 can, among other things, project warning icons on the road. This way the SUV can project an ice crystal on the road when slippery. Via the infotainment system you can set whether and what the Q3 allows around it. Very nice. The Audi Q3 is the first Audi to use a micro-LED module for the headlights. It is only 1.3 centimeters thick and has no less than 25,600 micro-LEDs. Each LED is only 40 micrometer thick, not half a human hair.
… and A6!
Do we see more similarities elsewhere? Certainly! Just look at the back. The Audi Q3 is not visually linked to the A3, A5, Q5, A6 E-tron or Q6 E-tron, but to the new A6 with incineration engines. That is somewhat remarkable. Here too, a LED strip running over the entire width of the butt with rear lights on either side that are optionally filled with OLED technology. Central in between – of course – an illuminated Audi logo. Just like the petrol A6, the new Q3 also has diagonal foothills that down the sheet metal of the rear screens at its rear lights. Now that we are textually at the rear: the tailgate and the de diffuser are separated here by a truly gigantic panel of dense black plastic that is equipped with a mesh work pattern. Audi has put the fake exhaust end pieces in a certain sense, but the fake ‘openings’ reign.
Audi Q3: with a lot of dense black plastic.
For the time being we can only show you the new Audi Q3 ‘SUV’. Later there will of course be an Audi Q3 Sportback with a stronger sloping roof line. The fact that the Audi Q3 runs in the same Hungarian factory of the band as Cupra-Broertje Terramar does not mean that sheet metal is being exchanged. The window party of the two SUVs are also not the same.
Three stems
The interior of the new Audi Q3 is completely Audi-New style and therefore looks relatively tidy, all the more because it cannot be found in cars such as the A5, Q5, Q6 e-tron and A6 (e-tron) extra screen for the co-driver in the Q3. The instruments are 11.9 inches, the infotainment screen has a diagonal of 12.8 inches. You will also find an interesting difference with his brothers and sisters behind the steering wheel. The Audi Q3 has three stems on the steering column. The right stem is not used to control the windscreen wipers, but to control the machine. You will find the wiper control on the top of the two stems on the left side of the steering wheel. Underneath is the well -known selection bat with which you give the adaptive cruise control commands.
There are also physical buttons. For example, there is a button island under the middle ventilation grilles where you will find tests for Drive Select and with which you disable things like ESP and the start/stop system. In the middle tunnel itself you will find a multifunctional turning and printing button with which you control the volume, among other things. The steering wheel is of course strewn with touch -sensitive buttons. For almost all other things – such as the climate control – you must be in the infotainment screen.
Roomy
Audi does not yet release exact dimensions. We do know that the new Audi Q3 lusts 488 liters in the back and swallowed up 1,386 liters with a lower rear seat. The rear seat is slidable in length, the backrest is also adjustable. If you push the rear seat all the way forward and put the backrest upright, 575 liters in the back can lose the Q3.
Up to 120 kilometers of electric
On the international motors list we come across a mild hybrid and 150 hp 1.5 TFSI petrol engine, as well as a 265 hp 2.0 TFSI and a 150 hp 2.0 TDI without electrical support. We also expect the mild-hybrid machine in the Netherlands, as well as the plug-in hybrid engine version called E-Hybrid. It has a 177 hp 1.5 TFSI that, together with an electric motor, is good for a system power of 272 hp. The well-known 19.7-KWh battery (25.7 kWh gross) can be charged with 50 kW and is good for an electric reach of 120 kilometers. The previous generation of Audi Q3 was also there as plug-in, although you had to settle for fifty electric kilometers.
There are no Dutch prices at the time of writing.

Three Stems
The Interior of the New Audi Q3 is Completely Audi-New-Style and Therefore Looks Relatively Uncluttered, Especial Since the Extra Screen For The Passer, which is Mounted in Cars Such as the A5, Q5, Q6 E-tron and A6 (E-tron), Cannot Be Foundd. The Instrument Panel is 11.9 Inches in Size, The Infotainment Screen Has A Diagonal or 12.8 Inches. The Rear Seat is slidable in Length, The Backrest is also adjustable. Anyone Who Slides the Rear Seat All The Way Forward And Puts The Backrest Completely Upright Can Store 575 Liters in the Back of the Q3.
