The Deepal S05 is not the only electric SUV from Changan coming our way. In the form of this Changal Deepal S07, it gets a big brother. AutoWeek can tell you the starting price.
Changan is introducing itself to the Dutch market with two electric SUVs. The Deepal S05 is the smallest of the bunch, but at 4.6 meters long, it is by no means small. The Changan Deepal S07 you read about in this article is clearly a size larger.
The Changan Deepal S07 is 4.75 meters long, surpassing the Deepal S05 by almost 18 centimeters. The Deepal S07 has a wheelbase of 2.9 meters, also leaving the Deepal S05 behind, although the difference in favor of the Deepal S07 is small at 2 centimeters.
In contrast to the Changan Deepal S05, the Deepal S07 in the Netherlands is currently only available with one powertrain. It has rear-wheel drive and is 218 hp strong. That’s remarkable. The smaller and cheaper Deepal S05 delivers at least 272 hp. With its 218 hp, the SUV accelerates from a standstill to a speed of 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. Its top speed is 180 km/h.
In the bottom of the Deepal S07, there is also no 68.8-kWh LFP battery like in its little brother, but a 78-kWh NMC battery. This gives the SUV a range of 475 kilometers. DC charging is possible with a not very impressive 93 kW. Also in that area, the Deepal S07 has to tolerate the smaller alternative in front of it.
In any case, the Deepal S07 is spacious. The luggage space of the 2,073-kilo SUV offers 510 liters of storage space. In addition, you get a so-called frunk – a storage space under the front hood – which is good for 125 liters. If you fold down the rear seat, you can carry 1,385 liters. Towing a trailer? No problem, the S07 has a maximum towing weight of 1,500 kilos.

The Changan Deepal S07 costs €45,990 in the Netherlands. This puts the starting price fairly close to the indicative price that the brand released earlier. The equipment of the SUV is generous. You have standard artificial leather upholstery, extensive electrically adjustable, heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic roof, steering wheel heating, an electrically operated tailgate, a head-up display, a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, an audio system with 14 speakers, an induction charger and an extensive package of active and passive safety systems.
