Scout Traveler and Terra are popping up in Europe for the first time

Doesn’t say much, but …

Interesting news: the two models of the new Volkswagen brand Scout have surfaced in Europe. As far as we know not yet in tangible form, but digital!

We found the images above this story in the database of the European Patent Office. This immediately includes a disclaimer, because something like that does not give the certainty that the cars will also be fed here. Asking for this is of course useless and registering the design can also be done as a precaution or for other reasons.

Nevertheless, the appearance of the scouts at this European patent agency is interesting enough for a news, because at Autoweek we are certainly not averse to a little speculation. Moreover, the scouts are simply very interesting, cool models, which are clearly intended to impress the American buyer with their unyielding off-road insert. Unlike a Ford Bronco or Jeep Wrangler, a Dutch market introduction-we are immediately ahead of things-would not mean a huge BPM transaction. The scouts are completely electric and in that respect very suitable for a European career.

The Traveler and the Terra, as the first two cars of Scout are called, are in fact two versions of the same car. The Traveler is an SUV, the terra a pick-up with double cabin. Scout is a name that was used by International Harvester in a gray past, but that starts a new life as a brand name under the flag of the Volkswagen Group. Volkswagen does not make it easy for itself and presents new terrain SUVs with the Traveler and the Terra two from head to toe, with a new chassis and a powertrain that we do not yet know from other EVs from this stable. For the development, Volkswagen has worked together to a greater or lesser extent with EV builder Rivian, which at least delivers software for the scouts.

If the scouts ever come to Europe, it will take a while: even in America these cars will not be on the market before 2027.
