Hope for Better

Stellantis is pumping no less than 13 billion dollars – 11.2 billion euros – into itself over the next four years. The goal: to grow in the United States. And significantly too!
Stellantis is a huge corporation. The brand portfolio of the world’s fourth largest car manufacturer includes the brands Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, DS, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Opel (and Vauxhall), Peugeot and Ram. Not all of these brands are active in the United States, but brands such as Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Jeep, Maserati and Ram are. It is mainly these brands that need to grow enormously in the United States.
Over the next four years, Stellantis is investing the equivalent of 11.2 billion euros to grow in the US. Among other things, Stellantis wants to introduce five new models spread across various brands. Including a new mid-size pickup that is set to see the light of day in Toledo, Ohio. Stellantis also wants to reopen its factory in Belvidere, Illinois. There, the Jeep Cherokee and Compass for the American market are to be built. More news: in Warren (Michigan), Stellantis will produce an EV with range extender and a new SUV that will only have combustion engines. Additionally, Stellantis announces that the next generation of the Dodge Durango will be built in Detroit. Furthermore, Stellantis is introducing a completely new generation of four-cylinder gasoline engines that it will assemble in Kokomo (Indiana).
The investments and accompanying plans are expected to create a total of 5,000 new jobs and increase Stellantis’ production in the US by about 50 percent.
