Toyota books worldwide sales record and growth in the US

Unstoppable

Toyota Motor Corporation can look back on a very strong first half-year. It once again recorded record figures and even saw growth in the American market, which is disrupted by import duties.

While one car company after another is warning of significant setbacks due to American import duties, things don’t seem to be slowing down for Toyota. Toyota Motor Corporation, which also includes Lexus, saw sales in the US continue to grow happily. Toyota and Lexus sold 1,236,739 cars in the first half-year, 4.2 percent more than in the same period last year. According to Toyota, this is due to the strong demand for its models in the US, and the Camry and Sienna in particular contributed nicely.

Globally, Toyota is also doing well. Even stronger: Toyota and Lexus together have never sold as many cars in H1 as this year. In total, it was 5,159,282 cars, 5.5 percent more than last year. A small growth was previously reported in Europe, again good for a record. Daihatsu, whose sales are calculated separately, saw sales grow by no less than 56.2 percent to 329,416 cars. This growth is largely due to the huge dip last year, when Daihatsu came under fire over the safety of the cars.
