Toyota that is just as practical as special is now even smarter

Toyota JPN Taxi

The Toyota JPN Taxi, as practical as it is unique for us Europeans, is now even smarter.

The Toyota JPN Taxi – or ‘Japan Taxi’ – is a model from Toyota that you can see as the ‘London taxi’ for the Japanese domestic market. It is a 4.4 meter short mix of a hatchback and an MPV. With that car length, it is about as long as a Corolla Hatchback, but at 1.7 meters it is a lot taller. In addition, the JPN Taxi has a sliding door on the left side. The especially spacious JPN Taxi already indicates with its name what its task in life is: to serve as a taxi. The particularly clever Toyota JPN Taxi has a cleverly foldable rear seat to carry people who rely on a wheelchair from A to B, has a large luggage space and, of course, a hybrid powertrain that runs on LPG. The base, the design and the appearance of the JPN Taxi have not been tweaked, yet the Toyota has been improved.

The Toyota JPN Taxi has a renewed digital instrument panel with a now 7-inch large display, has a removable module for payments on the right side of the steering wheel and has new safety systems. Also new: the ventilation grilles for the rear passengers, housed in the headliner, are now adjustable. In addition, Toyota squeezes a new and larger LPG tank into the JPN Taxi. From now on, it takes 58 instead of 52 liters of LPG. The rest of the powertrain – the approximately 75 hp 1.5 petrol engine and the 61 hp electric motor – remain untouched.
