Subtle Celebration
The Volkswagen Polo is 50 years old, and the world will know it. At least, if Volkswagen has its way, the Dutch consumer will know it. It is introducing the Volkswagen Polo Edition 50 in the Netherlands.
The Volkswagen Polo Edition 50 is a special edition with which Volkswagen celebrates that the Polo is 50 years old this year. However, don’t expect a Polo that screams its festivity from the rooftops. The Polo Edition 50 is based on the Style version and is loaded with some extras.
The Polo Edition 50 stands on 16-inch alloy wheels, has dark tinted rear side windows, a 50 badge on the B-pillar, has door sills on which you can find the name of the version, and has a 50 badge on both the steering wheel and directly in front of the passenger. Furthermore, the Polo Edition 50 is available in a unique color for the Polo: Crystal Ice Blue.
What about the pampering? Not bad, it turns out. The Volkswagen Polo Edition 50 has heated sports seats, a leather-covered steering wheel, ambient lighting, chrome pedals, a reversing camera, the Park & Comfort package and the Discover Media infotainment system. Those who pay extra for the Plus package get a glass panoramic roof that can be opened, climate control separated over two zones, Keyless Access and a better interior filter.
The Volkswagen Polo Edition 50 always has a 95-hp 1.0 TSI. A manual gearbox with six gears is standard, a DSG automatic transmission with seven gears is available at an additional cost. Prices are not yet available.
