Reportedly, ID5 is also clearing the field

The Volkswagen Touareg doesn’t have much time left. At least, that’s what Autocar understands from insiders. Next year, it would fall completely.
The Volkswagen Touareg joined the ranks at Volkswagen 23 years ago. That was quite something, suddenly such a large SUV in the range. It turned out to be a good move, as the Touareg sold very well. However, times are changing and now Volkswagen would almost find it enough. The current Touareg will go out of production next year, Volkswagen Netherlands confirms to AutoWeek, but according to Autocar a successor will also be missing. Volkswagen Netherlands says it does not yet know whether there will be a successor. According to Autocar, the Volkswagen ID5 would also clear the field, possibly with the major refresher for the ID4. It cannot yet stand in the shadow of its more practically shaped brother.
Okay, back to the Touareg. Volkswagen may not see enough future in its largest SUV and that is a special timing with a view to the Dutch market. Here, thanks to the now plug-in hybrid powertrain, the Touareg is experiencing its best years since 2008, but that alone is of course not enough to keep the model. In its own house, the Volkswagen Tayron will make life difficult for its slightly larger and especially much older brother, and in North America, for example, the Volkswagen Atlas is a great alternative.

This is how we got to know the Volkswagen Touareg.
The Volkswagen Touareg is now three generations old. It started in 2002, the second generation appeared in 2010 and the current one has been around for about seven years. However, the latter does not apply to the Dutch market, because here the current Touareg was not available new for a while. In our country, the counter now stands at 4,326 units. 2004 was the best year for the Touareg here, with 707 units sold. Last year, 199 Touaregs were registered in the Netherlands.
