The Volvo EX30 is being built in Belgium for the European market, and the world will know it. Volvo had previously introduced special European versions of its compact electric success story, and now it’s upping the ante. There are now also Black Editions.
The Volvo EX30 proved to be an absolute sales hit last year. In 2024, a whopping 8,797 units were registered in the Netherlands. The registration figures for 2025 do not match the figures that the EX30 managed to rake in last year. In the first ten months of this year, 3,133 units have been registered in the Netherlands, despite the fact that the electric crossover has not been rolling off the production line in China since this year. The Volvo EX30 is being assembled significantly closer to home in Ghent, Belgium. To celebrate the fact that Volvo’s EX30s intended for European markets now also have European birthplace, the electric Volvo EX30 is now also available as an extra black Black Edition Europe.
Europe Black Edition
The new Black Edition versions build on the Europe variants and, like those versions, are based on the Plus trim level. Both the regular Plus version and the previously presented Plus Black Edition will continue to exist. The Black Edition also exists as a further development of the Ultra version. In all cases, the additional cost for the Black Edition is €1,000 compared to the regular Europe variants on which it is a step above. ‘All well and good, such a new variant of a special edition,’ – we hear you thinking. ‘Such a Black Edition certainly adds a lot of black to the EX30?’ Correct as a sore finger. The Black Edition is always painted Onyx Black and, in addition to the equipment of the Plus Europe variants, you get extra tinted glass in the rear, 19-inch five-spoke Black wheels and glossy black logos on the front and rear. If you go for a Black Edition that is based on the Ultra version, you also get the glass panoramic roof, Park Assist Pilot, a 22 kW on-board charger and a 360-degree camera.
