Lexus Sport Concept More Concrete

Toyota is working on a new supercar and Lexus also has a powerful powerhouse in store. This Lexus Sport Concept gives a better picture than ever of what to expect from it. Is it, or is it not an EV?
Toyota recently gave a glimpse of a car that should continue the bloodline of the Toyota 2000 GT and Lexus LFA. It showed a part of the front end of a brand new and previously unknown model. Lexus is also working on a supercar. We’ve known that for years and in August, in the form of the Lexus Sport Concept, it showed a powerful precursor of that new sports car. That show car is also on the exhibition floor of the Japan Mobility Show and this time we can also look inside.
The Lexus Sport Concept treats its driver to a true cockpit feeling. The particularly striking dashboard is quite minimalist in design and consists almost entirely of a unit that is shaped around the driver. Behind the racey-looking and open-topped steering wheel is a large digital instrument panel with smaller, vertical screens on either side that visually merge with it. The screens display information such as tire temperature and even lap times. It appears that we see a percentage in the bottom left of the instrument panel: 70 percent. This indicates the presence of a battery pack. This doesn’t necessarily mean that this Lexus is fully electric, because on the steering wheel we also see an Overtake button. It’s possible that the Lexus supercar, after pressing that button, activates an electric motor for more power. However, it’s also quite possible that the Sport Concept is an EV. Also notable: the driver and passenger are separated by a wide center tunnel. Directly in front of the passenger we only see some ambient lighting.
Lexus does not share technical specifications. In fact, it doesn’t actually say anything substantive about this spectacular precursor. We’ve already written about the exterior of the Lexus Sport Concept, which is sprinkled with some LFA influences. It appears that the aforementioned Toyota supercar will become a sister model of this Lexus.
