It is 280 hp strong, electric, danger and marks the return of a sporty label. No, it’s not the brand new Peugeot E-208 GTI, but the even newer Lancia Ypsilon HF!
Peugeot recently pulled the canvas of the new E-208 GTI. That sporty top version of the current Peugeot 208 received an iconic abbreviation behind his name and was full of references to the past. The car was also full of horsepower. 280 even, all from an electric motor that drives the front wheels. The Lancia Ypsilon also gets an electric sporty executioner with a famous abbreviation. It consists of two instead of three letters: HF. Lancia now releases new images of that Ypsilon HF.
We have known for some time that there will be a Lancia Ypsilon HF. In May last year, the Italians showed the Ypsilon Rally 4 HF with which it wants to return to rally sport and showed a first image of the Ypsilon HF. That Lancai Ypsilon HF is the electric top version with which you can go on the public road. You know the abbreviation HF from Lancia from the Delta HF, Delta HF Turbo, HF Turbo 4WD or the perhaps even more famous Delta’s HF Integral and HF Integrated ‘Evoluzione/EVO’. The Dedra HF Integrales also received.
Although the first real Ypsilon – the successor of the Y10 – received a sporty Elefantino Rosso with which the Italians referred to the elephant that is part of the HF -badge, the Ypsilon has never received a real HF version. It will come very soon. Initially, that 240 hp would become powerful, but just like the sporty top version of the Alfa Romeo Junior – the Veloce – the Italians eventually pull 280 hp out of the closet.
For those who are the Lancia Ypsilon HF too intense but would like to appear sporty, Lancia has devised the HF Line. An Ypsilon in HF Line trim looks like an Ypsilon HF, but is really a lot milder.

Where exactly the elephant in the HF logo comes from? The tradition does not quite agree. According to Lancia – which, to a certain extent, has a blow to the arm – the elephant by Gianni Lancia – the son of Vincenzo Lancia, who was Lancia CEO from 1949 to 1955 – was selected as a lucky brenger.
