Maserati McPura: the MC20, but better then

MC20 2.0

Maserati McPura

Facelifts seem mainly something for cars for ordinary mortals, but they also occur in the more extreme corners of car land. Now the Maserati MC20 has to believe it. He gets a new name for the occasion.

Almost five years ago, Maserati conjured an impressive supercar out of its hat. That banger that appeared in 2020 was given the appropriate name MC20. You might think that with a facelift in 2025 the name will change to MC25, but that is not the case. The numbers disappear completely and now it is called MCPura.

Maserati McPura

Don’t think that Maserati went completely wild on the MC20 to make it look completely different, that wasn’t necessary at all, was it? Compared to the MC20, the MCPura has a sportier front, inspired by that of the GT2 Stradale, it has slightly different lines at the bottom of the bumpers and flanks, and at the rear there is a large rear spoiler also inspired by the GT2 Stradale available. The color Ai Aqua Rainbow (matt on the coupĂ© and glossy on the Cielo) is also new. In the interior we mainly see more alcantara than we were used to and there is also a steering wheel inspired more by racing.

The MCPura should initially feel sportier than the MC20, thanks to various aerodynamic improvements and especially with the large rear wing at the rear. However, the power has not been tinkered with. This means that there is still a 630 hp 3.0 V6. The well-known Nettuno with two turbos. This is again linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The performance remains the same as that of the MC20: from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 2.9 seconds and the top speed is 325 km/h.

Cielo

The Maserati MC20 had the kingdom to itself at its introduction, because the Cielo open variant only appeared a year and a half later. With the MCPura it is immediately for sale. The biggest eye-catcher is the roof, but it is now an extra special copy. The Maserati MCPura Cielo has an electrochromatic glass roof that can be made transparent or opaque at the touch of a button. This should give you a bit of an idea that you are driving open, even with the roof closed. As with the MC20, the roof can be opened or closed in just 12 seconds. This is possible up to a speed of 50 km/h. The top speed of the Maserati MCPura Cielo is 5 km/h lower than that of the closed version.

It is not yet clear what the Maserati MCPura will cost. Assume that it starts at well above three tons, two years ago the starting price of the MC20 was already over three tons.
