The first time he Ceed
The Kia Ceed will soon be a lot more exciting. The current model will be replaced by a model that already exists as K4 elsewhere in the world. The Ceed successor is coming our way at least as a five-door hatchback. And what turns out? There is also a station wagon version in the works!
The Kia Ceed is on its last legs and will eventually be succeeded by two models. There is an electric EV4 in hatchback and sedan form ready to delight the Dutch market with its presence, and there is a completely new model with combustion engines ready. We already know the Kia EV4 Hatchback and EV4 Sedan. We actually also know the gasoline successor to the Ceed. Far outside of Europe, there is a model called K4. It currently exists as K4 Hatchback and as Sedan. Kia is already extensively testing the K4 Hatchback, and that can only mean one thing. Indeed: the Kia K4 is coming our way – whether as Ceed or not. At least as a five-door hatchback, but probably also as a station wagon.
The Kia K4 Hatchback is no longer the only K4 variant that has been caught in test gear in Europe. We can now show you a brand new test specimen. Under the sticker work, this time hides a body variant that we have not seen before. This is a station wagon. The new Kia K4 Sportswagon – or new Ceed Sportswagon – seems to differ more from the hatchback version than the current Kia Ceed Sportswagon from its hatchback brother. Although the new K4/Ceed Sportswagon is still fanatically clinging to the stickers on this brand new set of photos, it is already visible that the taillights look very similar to – and may even be identical to – the specimens on the back of the Hatchback.
The Kia Ceed Sportswagon was also available as a PHEV until recently.
The Kia K4 as it now drives around elsewhere in the world is still only available with non-electrified 1.4 and 1.6-liter gasoline engines. The Kia Ceed that you can still order is available with 1.0 T-GDI with and without electric assistance and is available with a 1.5 T-GDI. The Kia Ceed Sportswagon – the station wagon – was even available as a plug-in hybrid until last year. It is almost certain that the new Ceed/K4 in Europe will soon also receive electrified powertrains. More later.
