Spread to Opel
It is official. The Opel Mokka gets a 280 hp strong sporty top version that immediately bombardes itself into one of the most important Opels.
The Opel Grandland Electric will soon be available as a 325 hp four-wheel driver, the previous generation Grandland was there as a 300 hp plug-in and anyone who went shopping for the last generation Insignia could order a 260 hp variant with 2.0 turbo and four-wheel drive. As actually sporty designs put in the market, none of them are. For sporty Opels with a high power, you had to be with the last Opel Astra GTC (280 hp) or at the first generation of Insignia OPC (up to 325 hp). Soon the Opel Mokka can also be found in the list of sporty Opels with a lot of horsepower. The Opel Mokka GSE is approaching.
In May this year, Opel showed a first set of sketches of the Opel Mokka GSE Rally: an electric Mokka with 280 hp and 345 Nm for the rally sport. Shortly before, Opel announced that the GSE label will also stick on sporting and street-legal electric cars. That could of course only mean one thing: there will be a Mokka GSE with 280 hp. It is that variant that Opel now actually announces. There it immediately shows the first real photos of the Opel Mokka GSE and his rallying, although the pair is still exuberantly packed with sticker work on which we ‘OMG!’ to see.
The powertrain that the Opel Mokka GSE receives is the same as that of the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce. Those two cross-overs are in turn just as powerful as the very young Peugeot E-208 GTI and the Lancia Ypsilon HF. Also when it comes to drive lines, Stellantis knows how to spread his things about various brands, models and labels. And why not, the Volkswagen Group has been doing that for years. Still?
