Volvo’s main designer leaves after more than two years

Jeremy Offer, who started as head designer of Volvo just over two years ago, is leaving again. The Briton is handing over the baton to Nick Gronenthal.

In May 2023, Jeremy Offer started as design boss at Volvo. Previously, he worked for Arrival. Now, after just over two years, he is leaving again. That is quite fast, but according to Offer, it is not a frivolous decision. Automotive News has intercepted internal communication from Offer about his departure, in which he explains that it is ‘not an easy decision, but the right one for me’. He further says that he is very proud of the team and the work they have done.

Offer will be temporarily succeeded by Nick Gronenthal, an American who is currently head of automotive design at Volvo. However, this is said to be a temporary position. In the meantime, none other than former Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath is being deployed as a design advisor by Volvo’s parent company Geely. Quite a bit is shifting, recently Volvo also got a ‘new old’ CEO, as Håkan Samuelsson returned to the helm.
